Updated House Pics

Shortly after my post about decluttering the house and showing those pictures, I made even more changes, but I didn't get around to taking more pictures until now.

Here were the original pictures of the living room, followed by the updated ones:

There's a bunch of crap on the table that got fried from the lightning strike, I'm still not sure what to do with it.

And lastly...
While I was up in Winston Salem to visit Katie we went to the hospital to see where she worked. In the hallways there are often pictures of things, the hospital campus, historical pictures of the people, etc. One such mural was the contents of resident's pockets on a given day. I've also seen posts about "What's in your pockets" on some of the simplification blogs I read, so I figured I'd take a picture of what I usually carry:

I recently went back to carrying the wallet/money clip because I realized I needed more than just the two cars I was carrying in the back pocket of the Moleskine notebook. Nowadays when I go to work, or when I'm at home, I don't always carry the notebook around any more because I still have easy access to it on my desk, or on the coffee table. So that's the tradeoff I made for carrying the wallet again.

Anyways, there it is.

I ordered a new wireless router

Since my old one got fried from the lightning I had to get a new wireless router. It also helps that the old one never worked right with my PS3, so I kinda wanted a new one anyways.

So as it happens I've had this link bookmarked for months, waiting to go back and read it at some point, and I figured it might be worth posting here:
http://arstechnica.com/guides/tweaks/wireless-security.ars
It's called the ABCs of securing your wireless network.

I also ordered a SATA hard drive USB enclosure to see if I have any data left on the hard drives in my DNS-323 NAS device. Hopefully I do, either way it was only like $11.

Who's my big boy!!

Since I've had numerous requests, here are pictures of Brock as of yesterday, he's now 11 weeks old I think. You can definitely tell he's gotten bigger.

We're working on a few things. Over the last couple of days he has learned that if he walks over to the door and looks up at the handle, I'll let him outside. The best part is he's not playing me yet, he actually has to go to the bathroom each time! Yesterday we had three accidents in the house, but 3-4 door incidents, so I consider that considerable progress.

He'll still cry about it when I put him in the crate, but not nearly as much as he used to, he'll stop after 20 minutes or so instead of going all night. This morning he even let me sleep in till 7:30! Granted he started whining at about 6:45, then quit, then again at 7:00, then quit, and I ended up getting out of bed to my alarm instead of to him for once. We haven't had any pooping in the house yet, which is great, and he hasn't messed this new crate yet (it's a cat crate from Harold). So I guess overall it's going pretty well, it's just exhausting as hell.

Brock is here to stay

I mean, why not, I've already spent $405 on him, and that's not counting the $22 a month for the next 11 months for his vet plan. That and well... look at him. Turns out he and his sister were 8 weeks old or so when they were found, so it doesn't look like he's going to be as large as a full grown lab. They think he may have some hound or beagle in him.

He had fleas, lice, and worms, delicious. After taking the work medicine he was pooping them out for two days. He had a lot of worms. If I balled them all up into one pile it would be about the size of my fist. In other words, he's downright skinny now. He cries a lot when I put him in the crate and when I leave. Today he decided my wakeup call will be at 6:30, not the 7:30 I had my alarm set for. He pees in the house quite a bit more than I would hope, but I'm working on teaching him. I caught every 'accident' but one, and he's never pooped, so at least I have that going for me.

The worst part is I have to drive to VA for work tomorrow, so I have to take him over to Harold's tonight for the next 2-3 days. He'll probably ruin all the hard work I've done to this point.

So this is hard. But how could I say no to that face?

Funny how the puppy post gets the most comments evAr.
